A Trusted Resource for Complex Family Law Matters

Heather Vann, EdS, LMFT

Family law cases rarely involve legal issues alone. Parenting disputes, child development, family systems, mental health, high-conflict dynamics, and communication challenges often shape both the litigation process and the long-term outcomes for families. Selecting the right professional at the right stage of a case can reduce conflict, improve decision-making, and provide meaningful support to attorneys, clients, and the court.

Vann Mediation & Resolution Services provides specialized court-involved and forensic family law services, with a primary focus on Social Investigation, Guardian ad Litem, and Parenting Coordination. Additional services include Family Mediation and forensic consultation for mental health professionals. Whether serving as a qualified neutral, court-appointed professional, or consulting resource, Heather Vann provides objective, child-focused services grounded in clinical expertise, forensic experience, and the highest ethical standards. Attorneys can expect a collaborative working relationship while preserving the neutrality, independence, and role-specific responsibilities required in every matter.

The Right Fit For the Case

Different Cases Call for Different Types of Professional Involvement

Different cases call for different types of professional involvement. Sometimes attorneys and courts need a professional they know and trust who is familiar with the local legal community. In other matters, particularly complex or high-conflict cases, an independent neutral from outside the local professional community or immediate circuit may be preferred.

With established professional relationships throughout North and Central Florida and the ability to accept appointments statewide, Vann Mediation & Resolution Services offers flexibility in identifying the right professional fit for the needs and circumstances of the case.

Choosing The Right Intervention

Not Every Family Law Problem Needs the Same Professional

Social Investigation, Guardian ad Litem services, Parenting Coordination, Mediation, and Consultation serve different purposes. The right intervention depends on what the family or Court needs at that stage of the case.

Some matters require information and recommendations. Others require ongoing implementation and conflict management, an independent professional focused on the child’s best interests, or assistance reaching an agreement. Using an intervention for a purpose it was not designed to serve can add time and expense without addressing the underlying problem.

The Family Law Intervention Guide compares the available roles, what each is designed to accomplish, when each may be most useful, and when another intervention may be a better fit.

Why Attorneys Refer

Family law attorneys need professionals who understand not only the legal issues before the court, but also the family dynamics that often shape the dispute. Effective collaboration requires objectivity, sound judgment, clear communication, and an appreciation for the complex factors that influence parenting, decision-making, and family relationships.

Heather Vann brings an integrated perspective to every case through her experience as a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist, Florida Supreme Court Family Mediator, Parenting Coordinator, Court-Qualified Expert, Social Investigator, and Guardian ad Litem. Her work is informed by extensive experience with high-conflict family systems, domestic violence, coercive control, trauma, child development, neurodivergence, and the challenges families face during separation and divorce.

Heather also has extensive experience with complex parenting considerations involving parental mental health, substance use, trauma, personality dynamics, developmental and medical needs, and other circumstances requiring individualized consideration. Her family systems background allows her to consider these concerns within the broader context of the family while distinguishing between the stress and disruption that can naturally arise from involvement in court-related processes and dynamics that may require more specialized attention. This integrated clinical and forensic perspective informs her work while maintaining the neutrality, objectivity, and clearly defined professional role required in court-involved matters.
